Right on the doorstep of any property in Darwin is the Northern Territory's newest national park. The Charles Darwin National Park is only 5 kilometres from the Darwin City Centre but offers everything the NT's larger national parks have.
Day-trippers have a number of different sights to experience including checking out the collection of bunkers and shelters constructed during the World War II era.
There is plenty of open space to bring along a picnic, or for the more adventurous the park offers a number of mountain biking and cycling tracks. Visitors can also stroll around the park and take in the views across Darwin city and the harbour from the lookout platform.
Located in Port Darwin, the park encompasses part of Darwin's nationally considered and diverse wetlands area.
For those wanting to take a trip further afield the NT is home to some of Australia's largest and most significant national parks – a number of which are in the Darwin region and driving distance from the city. One of the parks near Darwin includes the Kakadu National Park, which is a listed world heritage site.
Real estate in Darwin is sought after for a number of reasons and having the territory's one of kind natural environment as your back garden is just one of them.
