Owners of property in Darwin have the benefit of living in an area that's renowned for its beautiful natural landscapes, and now the whole world will be able to see it as well.
Irishman Allan Dixon has been named the NT's Outback Adventurer, as part of Tourism Australia's 'Best Jobs in the World' campaign.
Triumphing over a field that included 6,906 video applications from around the world and over 87,000 expressions of interest in the position of NT Outback Adventurer, Mr Dixon says his goal is to make the NT "look unbelievable".
"I want to show the world the character of the NT landscapes and personalities through my eyes," Mr Dixon said in a June 21 statement.
The 'Best Jobs in the World' campaign is a joint effort between Tourism Australia and the tourism industry, which aims to promote the best of our country to international travellers.
Six extraordinary jobs in six Australian regions were put up for grabs with the promise of a six month salary including accommodation costs and other living expenses.
Mr Dixon's win will see him starting on his very own Territory adventure, kicking off at the Darwin Cup and Darwin Festival followed by the Henley on Todd Regatta.
"The Best Jobs campaign is all about increasing international visitation to the Northern Territory and Allan will be key in targeting the youth sector especially backpackers and working holiday makers," said Matt Conlan, minister for tourism and major events.
