Celebrations marking International Women's Day for 2014 are set to be as exciting as ever for residents of real estate in Darwin.
International Women's Day is held annually and celebrates women across the globe. On the day, communities are encouraged to hold events that will inspire and recognise the achievements of women, past and present.
For the past six years, Darwin has partnered with the United Nations Association of Australia NT to honour the day and this year is to be no different.
Every year the event falls on March 8 and Darwin property residents will be pleased to know the city will again be hosting the International Women's Day Walk and Community Morning Tea.
The walk will begin at 9.30 a.m. at the front steps of the Parliament House and will run through Darwin's CBD. All are welcome to participate and those doing so are encouraged to dress in the day's official colour, purple.
Morning tea will be provided afterwards at Parliament House with a number of inspiring speakers in attendance. There will also be information stalls to discuss relevant issues and various other entertainment.
The 2013 International Women's Day walk in Darwin saw over 300 participants, along with uniformed police officers, the Darwin City Brass Band and policewomen on horseback, so this year is not one to be missed.
