Residents of real estate in Darwin will be able to enjoy the thrill of an AFL match in their backyard next year.
Footy fans can come down to the TIO stadium on July 5 next year to see Melbourne battle it out against Fremantle.
The match will see runners up from the 2013 championship playing for premiership points.
As games have also been announced in Alice Springs, the Northern Territory can report a closer and deeper relationship with the AFL.
The matches were announced by Minister for Sport, Recreation and Racing Matt Conlan, who said it is a great outcome to have the AFL in the Northern Territory.
"This Government is very happy with this news and supports growing a strong society and a confident culture, we know many Territorians will appreciate and support the AFL matches in Alice Springs and Darwin in 2014," he said.
July 5 is going to be a red letter day on the city's sporting calendar and those with property in Darwin are perfectly located to catch all the action.
