There are many lifestyle benefits that residents of property in Darwin can enjoy and the city is making it easier to be environmentally friendly.
Shoal Bay boasts the Northern Territory's first renewable energy facility, which produces electricity from methane gas collected at landfill.
The plant produces enough energy to power around 1,200 homes per year and has thwarted the spread of 46,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere since it opened in 2005.
Shoal Bay's Facility allows the environmentally friendly disposal of large items of domestic waste, such as whiteware, electronic waste, furniture and scrap metal, as well as light bulbs and oil.
Residential recycling bins take the usual materials down to the plant, such as plastics, cans, cardboard and glass bottles, so household recycling is being used for fuel at the facility.
Residents of real estate in Darwin can be assured the city is doing its best to limit the impact of environmental waste on the planet by reducing the amount of CO2 produced by residents.
